Fun facts:

  • Magali is originally from Beaujolais and worked in diverse wine regions around France before starting her own endeavor in the Languedoc
  • “Deux anes” means “two donkeys”, after the real animals that live among the vines and help to prune and naturally fertilize them. (Now there’s actually three: Riquita, Pinocchio, and their mum Lolita)
  • The vineyard overlooks the Mediterranean sea and hence enjoys the perfect ratio of sun, fresh marine air and benefactory wind
  • The plot was a love-at-first-sight for Magali, and a great discovery, with up to 75-year-old vines in healthy condition

Tenuta il Nespolo Vino da Sete Vino Rosso 2023

Where: Piedmont, Italy
Grapes: 55% Barbera 35% Freisa 10% Sangiovese
Body: Medium
Category: Red Wine / chillable red

“Vino da Sete” translates as “wine of thirst,” or as the French say, “vin de soif.” This bright, crunchy red boasts a medium-ruby color.

Dry with bright juicy cherry, plum, and blackberry, hints of dried blueberry and vanilla, with savory undertones, medium plus acid, and soft but structural tannins.

Perfect barbecue wine with friends, or pizza night.  Serve with a slight chill.

winemaking: The grapes are harvested in early September and immediately delivered to the winery to be pressed together. They co-ferment in stainless-steel tanks with indigenous yeasts and without pump-over or further manipulation. Once the cap rises to the top, it is racked off while alcoholic fermentation is allowed to continue without further skin contact. The wine is then aged for 4-5 months in stainless steel on its fine lees before being bottled in a one-liter with a crown cap.

Jolie Laide Trousseau Gris 2023

Where: Sebastopol, California
Grapes: Trousseau Gris
Body: Medium
Category: White Wine

The wine has a wonderful texture, a golden-pink hue in the glass, and aromas of citrus, melon, and crushed stone, white tea with a light floral and savory character.

winemaking: 100% Trousseau Gris from Fanucchi-Wood Road Vineyard in the Russian River Valley of Sonoma County. The Fanucchi-Wood Road Vineyard is dry-farmed and practicing organic, with the Trousseau Gris block dating to 1981. The fruit was foot crushed and left to macerate on skins for three days before being pressed to neutral puncheons and stainless steel for fermentation. The wine was matured in neutral puncheons before bottling.
