Delicious light red with notes of blackcurrant and blackberry, soft easy-drinking tannins, and a vibrant dry acidity. Great with a little chill.

La Providence is in Lambesc in northern Provence. Its first, tiny vintage was 2021; 2023 is the first vintage for Floraison. This young domaine is focused entirely on local varieties, planted on sandy, stony limestone soils with little clay. The farming is certified-organic--hard won after a years-long conversion from the heavily conventional farming of the previous owners--and includes gentle working of the soils and the use of cover crops. The harvest into small bins is manual. The Grenache and Cinsault are destemmed and fermented spontaneously with indigenous yeasts without sulfur in tank; maceration lasts around 5 days. The wine is racked into concrete eggs and aged for 6 months. It is bottled without filtration and with a very small amount of sulfur (total 21 mg/l). Though La Providence lies within the Coteaux d'Aix-en-Provence AOC, they have opted for Vin de France classification. 133-case production.
