Peter Lauer works in the Saar subregion of Germany’s Mosel Valley, long known for brilliant white wines with a fascinating balance of intensity and delicacy. Lauer uses native yeasts and is known for a mineral-driven, drier style than some others in the area. This bottling is sourced from various parcels on the “Grand Cru” Kupp. In other words, it is a “Grand Cru,” declassified and sold at village-level pricing. Most of the sites are east facing on the summit of the Kupp which gets the first rays of morning sun.

It is made in an off-dry “Feinherb” style with bright notes of citrus, apricot, slate and white flowers with a very light touch of sweetness and lightening acidity.
