Yann Bertrand's Fleurie Alice 6/10 2022 is a highly expressive, biodynamic red wine from the Fleurie appellation in Beaujolais, France. It is made from 100% Gamay grapes, sourced from both young vines (8 years old) and old vines (up to 80 years), grown on the region's signature granite soils. This cuvée is significant, as it marks ten years of Bertrand's winemaking journey and references the six hailstorms that have affected the vineyard during this period. The wine is also named a tribute to Yann's wife, Alice.
The vinification process involves cold carbonic maceration for 10 to 13 days, with no added sulfur or yeast, preserving the wine's natural character. It is aged in a mix of concrete tanks and old barrels (used for seven vintages or more) to maintain freshness while developing complexity.
